The Pandemic

What do we make of a time when the world's roars grow silent
People retreat or are shut out as the titans of industry quail in the face of nature.
Men and women, once revered for their genius, scramble for answers about an unseen enemy more powerful than the might of ten thousand raging gunmen.
Nations whose reign celebrated freewill now turn to a God whose ways were unpopular, for answers.
The streets are empty, families at home, couples forced to know each other again
Children's play and work are intertwined as the world silently changes
A life we never knew would happen, now the reality, as the world's rapid orbit slows, and man retreats to the safety of home.
Economies are failing, kingdoms falling, lives are ending, others changing.
Leaders fight as they disagree on strategy but for once we all concede to a common foe, our agreement frightening.
As we demonstrate the core of who we are as people,
the best and worst of souls shine flagrantly or spew poison for all to see.
Our chatter, actions and inaction scream for the need for change
While some lay blame, those of us who were awakened from our sleep by this silence, now cling to each other for comfort, reminded of the frailty of life as we unite against a common adversary and reluctantly accept an uncertain future.
Will the world be the same? Only time will tell how this virus will mould us.
Will this distance drive us closer together or further apart?
We can all be better at this moment...we can be different and be ready the next time.
For now, we can choose to take the lessons...enjoy the peace of the chaos, pray with those who need us, accept that we are only men and we pale in the face of God and nature. Yes, we can be different, but will we choose to be?
